Public Parks Impact Day"

In recognition of Cheniere and its employees for their longstanding commitment to revitalizing city parks and soccer fields, the City of Houston and Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD) proclaimed Aug. 18, 2026, as “Cheniere Public Parks Impact Day.”

Houston Mayor Pro Tem Martha Castex-Tatum presided over the proclamation during a City Hall ceremony attended by Zach Davis, Cheniere’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and Wendy Craven, Director of Global Corporate Giving Programs for the company.

“It is an honor to accept this proclamation from the City of Houston on behalf of every Cheniere employee for our longstanding support for and work to improve Houston parks and soccer fields,” Davis said. “We couldn’t do any of this without the Parks Department. We are just very proud of what we have accomplished over the last five years together, and we look forward to the next five years.”

Cheniere’s partnership with HPARD commenced in 2021, and, since then, more than $600,000 and approximately 1,000 volunteer hours have been invested in park improvements to make recreational spaces safer, more enjoyable and accessible. Cheniere volunteers have revitalized 14 parks and co-hosted festivals and soccer clinics for hundreds of Houston-area youth. 

“Houston’s legacy in soccer and community recreation is strengthened through the long-standing collaboration with Cheniere, reflecting a deeply shared commitment to enriching public parks and providing inclusive, high-quality recreational spaces for future generations,” the proclamation reads.

City of Houston District B Councilwoman Tarsha Jackson praised Cheniere and HPARD for their joint efforts on behalf of Houstonians.

“We have been able to upgrade practically every park in District B through this partnership,” Jackson said. “Private-public partnerships are how we move our districts and our communities forward, so I just want to say thank you.”
