Employees from Cheniere's Sabine Pass Liquefaction facility recently spent the day volunteering at the annual Kid Fish event at Sea Rim State Park in Sabine Pass, Texas.
Kid Fish aims to introduce children to the basics of fishing while encouraging conservation. This year’s event welcomed more than 300 attendees, including 144 young anglers who cast a line, learned from volunteers and created lasting memories with their families.
“Kid Fish is another opportunity to reinforce our commitment to the local fishing community and the traditions that have shaped this region for generations,” said Brooklyn Sampere, Cheniere’s Local Government and Community Affairs Representative at SPL. “We are proud to support programs that encourage conservation, connect families to the outdoors and help inspire the next generation of anglers.”
With Cheniere’s support, each child received a fishing pole to take home, and participants competed for prizes awarded across multiple age groups based on their catches.
“Fishing has always been an important part of life in our coastal communities, a tradition passed down from generation to generation,” said Laura Nau, Sea Rim State Park Interpreter and Volunteer Coordinator. “Sea Rim State Park wants to keep that tradition alive by introducing children to surf and marsh fishing, as well as how to be responsible stewards of our local resources.
“We are grateful for partners like Cheniere, whose volunteers help make experiences like Kid Fish possible.”
