Cheniere has announced that substantial completion of Train 5 of its Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL) Stage 3 Project in Texas was achieved on March 27.

The seven-train, 10-plus million-tonne-per-annum (mtpa) CCL Stage 3 project continues to track on budget and ahead of schedule.

Cheniere is working with engineering, procurement and construction contractor Bechtel to safely and efficiently expedite the completion of the project’s two remaining trains later this year, as the company strives to supply the world with the reliable energy it needs.

The milestone follows the installation earlier this month of first steel at the CCL Midscale Trains 8 & 9 Project, a second expansion under construction at Corpus Christi.

Together with estimated debottlenecking opportunities, the CCL Midscale Trains 8 & 9 Project is expected to bring online approximately 5 mtpa of additional LNG production capacity by the end of 2028 and increase Cheniere’s total liquefaction capacity across its two sites in Louisiana and Texas to over 60 mtpa.
