Cheniere not only values, but is committed to the communities where we live and work. We invest our time, energy and resources to make a difference in the quality of life for our neighbors.
The partnership with our host communities began with our facility siting efforts. The approach was largely educational including the properties of LNG, design considerations and regulations; and Cheniere’s business model and expertise. Cheniere values the relationship that has developed within the communities where we are developing our sites.
Hurricane Katrina strained the resources of Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, Cheniere stepped forward to contribute to relief efforts and agencies. The company matched funds donated by employees for the Red Cross.
When Hurricane Rita devastated southeastern Louisiana, Cheniere stepped forward to help the citizens of Cameron Parish. Our employees collected supplies, contributed heavy equipment and secured temporary housing for the Parish's emergency response teams. We provided satellite phones, electric generators, and a headquarters for the local police force. We also worked with the Cameron Parish community to restore education services, providing temporary buildings and computers computers and other learning tools to ensure that education would not be interrupted in addition to rebuilding a water damaged gym for a local high school.
Cheniere is proud to be a member of the Cameron Parish, Louisiana, and Corpus Christi, Texas communities, and we will continue to build on our relationship with our neighbors.
