Community Relations

Cheniere not only values, but is committed to the communities where we live and work. We invest our time, energy and resources to make a difference in the quality of life for our neighbors.

The partnership with our host communities began with our facility siting efforts. The approach was largely educational including the properties of LNG, design considerations and regulations; and Cheniere’s business model and expertise. Cheniere values the relationship that has developed within the communities where we are developing our sites.

Cheniere believes education is the foundation of a strong community, so we look for ways to enhance educational opportunities for individuals. In addition to numerous scholarships and youth outreach activities, Cheniere sponsors other events that make quality educational programs more readily available to the community. Cheniere also understands the importance of medical care and health education to communities, so we partner with local leaders and national organizations to identify high-impact areas for support.

Over the past year, Cheniere has continued on our path as a leader in America’s energy revolution. Construction at our Sabine Pass Liquefaction project continues to progress on schedule. We cleared several of the final regulatory hurdles for our Corpus Christi Liquefaction project, and the Cheniere family has grown to over 650 employees. We have further built upon existing community programs as well as initiated new efforts in both Louisiana and Texas.

Our commitment begins with the Cheniere Ambassador Program, which connects employees to communities across the Gulf Coast. Established in 2013, the Cheniere Ambassador Grant program has flourished into an impactful platform, providing over $62,000 in charitable contributions to 80 different charitable organizations in 2014.

Our Community Investment Council, comprised of local employees, can identify and respond quickly to community needs. In 2014, over $130,000 was distributed to local schools, universities and civic organizations.

During 2013 Cheniere provided over one million to worthy causes - from rebuilding a children's park in Gregory, Texas to supporting economic developments efforts in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

Moving forward, Cheniere will continue to build upon its long tradition of responsible corporate citizenship with our neighbors in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, and the Coastal Bend, Texas. Our annual community reports are designed to highlight many of these efforts that we wish to share with you.
